Alcohol Phobia

Just got back from the hospital after a big night out on Easter Saturday. I'm no longer drinking alcohol anymore, I have official alcohol phobia. Dammit, and pub crawl is on Friday. Boo hoo hoo.
Went to the Emergency ward at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, but still had to wait for 2 hours for the doctor.-________- Now I know what it feels like to go the gov hospital, PLUS I had to take the bus. Wish it was SJMC. Thank god for Stef, Alicia, Kim and Hani who took care of me.
Ok, will not be blogging in the near future. So unlucky, some more during Easter.

A New Dawn for Malaysia

As everyone already knows, there was a huge loss for BN in the 12th General Election 2008 last Saturday.
Key points:
1) BN lost two-thirds of its majority, the last time this happen was in 1969.
2) BN lost 5 states, among them the PM's home state of Penang and the premier state of Selangor.
The loss is attributed to the growing racial tensions, rising crime rates, rising cost of living (most notably rising petrol prices, toll prices etc.), and corruption.
The months leading up to election should be an indication to the BN that they would lose some of their seats, but no one expected them to lose their two thirds majority (BERSIH & HINDRAF).This is certainly a major wake up call to the governing party of Malaysia.
(This is my opinion la: Abdullah is not very bright, he knows that this time the opposition will be stronger, sumore have such a long campaigning period, then the rakyat foster even more antagonism, cos the opposition can campaign even more-_______-, I dunno la, thats what i think)

The results of this general election reflect the loss in confidence of the rakyat towards the Abdullah administration. He made many promises during the 2004 General Elections that have yet to be fulfilled, one of the most notable is anti-corruption. He shoould have capitalized and made full use of the support and that the rakyat gave him in 2004 GE (BN winning by a 91% majority). There is few or no where else in the world that a leader would get such a huge mandate.

Another issue is the Khairy Jamaluddin issue, as Tun Mahathir said,"This young man has no achievement whatsoever, but the PM listens to him."
Everyone else knows what Khairy is all about, but I wont say it here, because I dont want to be ISA-ed.

The BN also said that we have achieved growth in economy by throwing us figures, but all I can see is the rising cost of living, even though I live overseas for a good part of the year.

Ok, as EVRYONE knows, there are so many more issues about the gov (Samy, old racial issues, crime rates, the crooked EC etc etc) thats all I'm going to write about, because I need to go and cook dinner soon.

By the way, I hope the opposition guys dont disappoint. They better not be all talk and no action. Espeically, in Subang Jaya (the best place in Malaysia ok? cause I was born there and live there my whole life). Quite worried la, because Hannah Yeoh is only 27, thats damn young ok! Dunno whether can lead or not. I have nothing against young people because I'm 'young' too.

Honestly, I am scared of Malaysia's future and more importantly, I am scared for the future of Chinese in Malaysia. The cold hard reality is we will ALWAYS be the minority in Malaysia (and I dont think we chinese will ever be treated as equals-things might be better), and I am sure that if the situation was reversed (ie: chinese are majority), we won't act any different. Its the survival of the fittest (race). haha, I did learn something in bio.

So, my hopes are (as a Chinese), the govt after this wake up call, will start relising that we are part of bangsa Malayisa, and meritocracy please!!!! Especially in education (I damn tulan about this issue ok, even though it has been 3 years already),how can Malaysia achieve Wawasan 2020 if all the smart people escape to overseas due to disatisfaction with the gov.
Sadly to say, one example is yours truly, and now with this election, I'm even more scared to go back to Malaysia. The country is in political shambles, and this will surely affect investors' confidence and the economy. (Aiyohhhh, this means exchange rate will increase again, wtf!!!) Better faster change money now.

HOPEFULLY, some great improvements will be seen, we need a change dammit!!! and the govt should stop being complacent and sweep matters under the carpet.

On another note, I'm sorry and sad that my father lost in the election, but am sure as hell not sad that the BN lost its two thirds majority. Aiyahh, the rakyat now just have so much antagonism towards the gov, that whatever it is, as long as the dont vote for BN means its good.

This is going to be a VERY INTERESTING year. Hopefully changes for the good can be seen.

Back in Adelaide

Came back to Adelaide om Sunday, and I had to start classes the next day. So super tiring! By the way, my luggage was 40.5 kg, 10 kg more than the 30 kg limit. I knew it was heavy, but I didnt expect it to be THAT heavy.
The guy at the check in counter asked me whether I was migrating.-________-
To which I answered, no I am just going to Australia to study. Pffft

I have been SO SO SO BUSY, beacause I just moved and me and my housemates still have heaps of things to buy for our house, plus a lot of tidying up to do. PLUS, I might have a mouse in my house in one of the kitchen cabinets. OMG
ON top of that, there is Uni, my job and my hospital work experience to do. I am slowly dieing

Plus, Adelaide is having CRAP weather now. Its freaking March now,and stupid Adelaide is still in summer. Its suppose to be autumn now, my goodness. Everyday 37 C. Super duper hot, and this Sunday is 40 C. Just kill me la, even hotter than Malaysia. And, I thought the hot days were over.
Please please please, I want cold weather now, cant wait for autumn!

Today is the Day

I will be flying back to Adelaide tonight.
After being back in Malaysia for a month, I dont really feel like going back anymore.
Home in Malaysia is really where the heart and stomach is.
Family is here and old friends who I grew up with are here PLUS good food is here as well.

On another note, I have 37 kg of luggage, that is 7 kg of excess luggage after one month of shopping and lugging back heaps of new clothes, shoes, books and necessities for a year.
I hope they are not strict or else I have to hand carry my excess 7 kg on board and I sure as hell dont want to do that cos I have my laptop as well!!
Why oh why did I buy so many new clothes and shoes that now I 'absolutely' have to bring back. PLUS just now i was chatting to Wai Ken on msn, and he said that his friend was not allow to bring extra 6 kg to check in. I'm DEAD.

Ok, bye Malaysia, see you in a year.

At night, met up with Milaksh who just got back from India (haven't seen this guy in ages!), Sarah and Crissida. Milaksh is still funny as always, and boy can he talk a lot! Even I lose to him. Sweat -_________- Plus, the first med student I met that told me he loves what he is doing.

Went for fried laksa recommended by Sarah.
I Really really really liked the fried laksa cause asam laksa is my favourite Malaysian food, and this was a different take from the normal asam laksa.
The best part is, the restaurant is 3 minutes from my house by car.
Photobucket
The fried laksa.

Proceeded to 24 Hours McDonalds at SS 15 for ice-cream!=)

This was taken with a self timer and it was the final picture from many many attempts. I think we took about 10 pictures sitting on that bench alone. People were starting to look at us funny.

Dessert Post!

Okay, doing a dessert post today. Just discovered Asian Avenue at the New Wing of Sunway Pyramid on the F floor. Its kinda hidden and I didnt realize it the first time I went there.
I like Asian Avenue. Heaps of small nice shops with pretty reasonable prices.
Plus they have some good Asian food shops hidden there. On Sunday, I tried out this Taiwanese restaurant selling famous Taiwanese food:
XXL crispy fried chicken, and handmade oyster mee sua. Damn nice i tell you, wanted to take pictures but as usual I forgot about it and gobbled everything down.
Some more only RM 5.50 each, very reasonable for shopping center price.

So, on Monday, I went back again to try the dessert shop next to the Taiwanese shop.
Its called Snowy Dessert, the chairs and tables are bright pink. Forgotten to take picture of the shop as well. I am not a very good food blogger, am I?

What me and my cousin had:

food
Ice blended watermelon juice and sago. RM 4.90

This is very nice, I really liked it, BECAUSE it had all the elments in a drink that I like. 1. iceblended 2. Heaps of sago. If only it was gassy, it would be the PERFECT drink.

All in all, very refreshing.

food
Mango and black glutinous rice dessert. RM 7.90

Quite nice, but too little mango and too much rice. Not recommended to consume in excess because its just diabetes in a glass bowl. This was ok only, should put more mango.

food
Egg tart with bird nest. RM 7.90 for 2 eggtarts.

I like this one too! The egg tart itself is really nice, the pastry was fresh and realy light. Something special with the bird nest dollop on top.
A little expensive i think.
Me and my cousin actually consumed 2 plates of egg tart but they only charged us one. Only realized it when we were walking back to the car. No wonder so cheap!

In case you havent realized by now, my diet plan has gone down the drain. Nevermind!! I ll diet, exercise, work and study when I go back to Aus.

On another note, I realize my driving skills is not bad, have been driving quite often these holidays. But my parking is OMG, I cant park to save my life! Damn terrible, I am destined to drive small cars my whole life now.!

Girls day out!

Met up with Evelyn, Ching Mei, and Crissida on Tuesday morning for shopping. We went to 1 utama, nothing much there though. So, just walked around and went into random shops.

On Sarah's request, we were suppose to all wear dresses that day. Crissida said we look like a bunch of datins which I reckon we did, walking around in 1u. haha

Saw this cute pair of earings in Topshop.
Photobucket

After that, went to Jack's Place for lunch after some heavy 'deliberation' of I don't know where to eat and anything la. Finally decided to go there with the help of a direction board near the escalator.

Ok, the food.
Photobucket
Potato and leak soup, with garlic bread.
I have no idea what is leak still.

Photobucket
Main course: fish and calamansi sauce, with mint peas and carrots.

I didnt't have a full on picture of the main course because I forgot about it plus Evelyn had issues with the peas and gave them all to Crissida. So, the only picture I have is the one of Evelyn giving her peas to Crissida.

No picture of the dessert as well, cos we attacked our dessert before I manged to get a picture of it. So much for Ching Mei blogging about the food. I shall be a more alert photographer next time.

Photobucket
Crissida looking very delighted with the garlic bread.lol

Of CNY open houses.

Went to Ee Juen's house on Saturday for her annual open house. Got to meet up with old friends which is always very nice =). Because, I don't think that I will come back this July during winter break. Gambled a lot, but I didnt win much, this year is going to be a bad luck year for me. I can always tell from my gambling luck. hmmmph.

So, I thought, fine, nevermind tommorow during my open house I will win back my money. Who knows, lost even more??!! wtf
Wai ken was the dealer and he was so lucky. When I first ask him to be dealer,
YW: Wai ken, be dealer
WK: Dowan la, later I lose money
YW: Be dealer!!!

He should thank me man.

Anyway, the people who came to my place were evelyn, ching mei, sarahkate, crissida, emily+bf, chokyew+gf, joon heng, wai ken, eugene and niven.=)

Pictures below! Boy, I look fat in the pictures. wtf?? I shall diet more and eat less in Australia.
The only CNY goodies I am eating from now are mandarin oranges. No cookies , no chocolates (self control, self control!)
I hope my housemate and her bf plus friends wont feed we so much more anymore when I go back to Adelaide, or else I am going to be obese.
Cut down on Krispy Kremes, dougnuts, biscuits & nuts when I go back to Aus, and stop being so greedy and addicted to junk food, and exercise more also.

This guy accused me of not talking to his gf!! pffft Sorry lo, but his gf was so shy. She seemed really scared of me also. And I'm sure that I DONt look scary with my size.
After that, all of us moved to Sarah's place where Ee Juen joined us, where we played mafia!
But before that, we ate Sarah's famous konyaku jelly.=) I havent figured out how to link properly yet=S, or else I would link her blog post.
Ok, back to mafia, I am sooo not a good mafia. The 1st time I became a mafia, I got caught almost immediately. Apparently, i fidgeted too much, and my body language gave me away.=S
Joon Heng was really good, he managed to make me and Sarah turn against each other even though he was the mafia all along. Such a good actor, and highly skilled at the game.lol
Of course, when Sarah found out, he got a whacking. It was quite amusing.
All in all, it was good fun meeting up with everyone. Won't be seeing them for a year. I will sure miss everyone.
